Sevington border control post (BCP) is a new Defra inspection post at Sevington inland border facility in Ashford, Kent. You need to go to Sevington BCP if you are called for a sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) check at Sevington BCP. These checks are needed to protect the UK’s biosecurity and public health.

IPAFFS: Trailers and Transport Tips

  • Declare your trailer unit number and Vehicle Registration Number
    • When pre-notifying your medium and high-risk plants and plant products on IPAFFS, please ensure you are declaring the trailer unit number, and where applicable/possible the Vehicle Registration Number (VRN).
    • If you cannot provide this information when the notification is submitted, you must amend the notification when it becomes available.
    • Ensure that the same information is provided on CNS or Destin8. Failure to provide this information may lead to delays with your consignment.

Find out more information on the Plant Health Portal.

Driver Messaging Service (DMS) and nominated contacts:

    • For the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) checks for your plants and plant products, you should refer to IPAFFS messaging for directions to the BCP. This is either through the dashboard on IPAFFS or via text and email alerts.
    • It is the responsibility of the notifier to inform the haulier on whether the goods have been selected for inspection. The person who submits the notification will immediately be notified if the goods have been selected for inspection.
    • During the IPAFFS notification process you can also add up to 5 ‘nominated contacts’ into IPAFFS, these contacts will also be notified directly of any updates to the consignment. Where possible this should include the haulier, or lorry driver's contact details.
