We provide you with the following benefits:

Meetings

Our HR and Technical Meetings run throughout the year. In the Technical Meetings we discuss a wide range of technical issues affecting all sectors of the industry. There are regular contributions from regulatory bodies such as the Chemicals Regulation Directorate, so delegates keep up to date with regulatory developments and food safety issues.

The HR meetings cover topics such as mental health in the workplace, supporting your EU workers, industry response to the immigration white paper, salary and benefits survey. We invite industry contributors to present on important subjects.

Both meetings offer a valuable opportunity for networking and are often combined with visits to locations of interest to the industry.

Regular updates

Regular updates on the outcomes of issues are sent to members via e-marketing and posted in the members’ area of the FPC website.

They include the latest on coronavirus, Brexit, pesticide and plant health regulation and enforcement, customs clearance, tariffs, quotas and schedules, RASFF notifications, UK and EU plant health interceptions, food safety, sustainability, waste, workforce and ethical issues.

Workshops

Full and associate membership entitles you to attend our workshops and meetings.

Examples of some of this year’s workshops include GSCOP (Groceries Supply Code of Practice), Cyber Security for Business Leaders, Brexit Briefings and Practical Uses of Artificial Intelligence in fresh produce.

Networking Opportunities

There are many opportunities for members to meet and network throughout the year.

The evening celebrates outstanding achievements across all sectors of the UK produce industry.

There are awards for organisations who trade in or with the UK and who demonstrate superb performance in innovation, creativity, CSR, consistency of service and quality, sustainability, good practice, employee welfare, cost control and improved turnover. There are awards for individuals, the Supply Chain, Retail Excellence and for Business Excellence including service providers.

Advice, guidance & publications

We regularly update our series of publications which provide practical advice and information. Free online for FPC members and a number can be purchased by non-members.

We've also worked with the British Retail Consortium to develop the Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 8: Fresh Produce Guideline which explains the practical requirements of the Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 8. This guidance aims to ensure consistent interpretation by everyone involved in the process of certification.

We offer advice to members on regulatory matters and technical issues, participating in government consultations and contributing to a number of stakeholder groups on behalf of the industry. Members will find the latest updates in the FPC Newsdesk.
