FPC meets Brooke Rollins to discuss UK / US Trade

15 May 2025

On 13th May, the FPC had the opportunity to meet with Brooke Rollins, the US Agriculture Secretary, during her visit to the UK to explore trade opportunities. During a breakfast meeting, discussions covered legislative alignment, trade barriers and enablers. While ethanol and beef were key topics, fresh produce was also addressed, particularly in the context of sustainability goals and upcoming administrative changes related to climate policy.

Kelly spoke with Brooke about the differing legislative standards between the UK and US for fresh produce, highlighting both the challenges and future trade potential.

We found the US 'farmers first' strategy—focusing on food and national security—truly inspiring, and were encouraged to learn that this message was later shared at Number 10.
