Adas Ambrosia Climate Impact Webinar

Adas Ambrosia Climate Impact Webinar

6 Jul 2026

The Ambrosia Project is organising a webinar to present the research work undertaken by the project on climate change and food safety.

The webinar will take place on 10th July 2026 at 1pm (UK time), lasting 90 minutes.

This webinar is intended to communicate the scientific progress of the Ambrosia project. Since its inception, the project has been science led with a major focus on extending our understanding of the interactions between climate breakdown and food safety with a focus on mycotoxins in grains and enteric pathogens in horticultural products.

There have been three major axes of the research work undertaken by the project partners:

First, the development of a risk assessment framework that can take into account emerging and remerging hazards. The major result here is a risk assessment methodology that combines quantitative and qualitative data.

Second, the development of food risk focussed climate projections for the medium to long term assuming Shared Socioeconomic Pathways of 8.5 and 4.5, working with large scale, long term climate models by downscaling and bias correcting the results to a meaningful scale for the agricultural sector.

Third has been the development of models of plant responses to different climate predictions and the likely impacts. Here careful analysis of relevant scientific literature has been able to predict the prevalence of different mycotoxins and enteric pathogens for different climate scenarios.
