Review of import controls for High-Risk Food and Feed not of Animal Origin as part of Regulation 2019/1793

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Food Standards Scotland (FSS) have undertaken a science and evidence-based review of the imported food and feed commodities contained within the Annexes to assimilated Regulation 2019/1793.

They have write to inform us of following the consultation on High Risk Food and Feed of Non-Animal Origin (HRFNAO), legislation to amend the annexes in assimilated Regulation 2019/1793 will come into force on 18th December 2024. The Regulation is amended to reflect the changes to hazards affecting imported food to ensure the safety of consumers.

The page for assimilated Regulation 2019/1793 on legislation.gov is updated within two months to reflect the annex amendments coming into force with each HRFNAO review. The statutory instrument will be available on legislation.gov during this period.
