Removal of prohibition on exports of Cornus alba, Cornus sanguinea, Sorbus aucuparia, Populus alba, Populus nigra, Populus tremula and Taxus baccata from the UK to the EU legislation published

The legislation to remove the prohibition on exports of Cornus alba, Cornus sanguinea, Sorbus aucuparia, Populus alba, Populus nigra, Populus tremula and Taxus baccata from the UK to the EU was published in the EU’s Official Journal on 30 July 2025. The new legislation allows exports of:

  • Cornus alba and C. sanguinea up to two-year-old plants for planting, with a maximum diameter of 10mm, up to five-year-old plants for planting, with a maximum diameter of 40mm at the base of the stem, and up to seven-year-old bare-rooted plants for planting, with a maximum diameter of 40mm at the base of the stem;
  • Sorbus aucuparia, Populus alba, Populus nigra, Populus tremula and Taxus baccata plants for planting of any age and stem diameter.
