Employment Rights Act 2025: new guidance for employers

26 Feb 2026

The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) has launched a new website offering practical support and guidance on what upcoming changes to employment laws and workers' rights mean following the passing of the Employment Rights Act 2025.

Changes are coming for:

  • Sick pay rules
  • Paternity / maternity rules
  • Zero hours contracts
  • Working from home flexibility

DBT have also produced a stakeholder toolkit with key information and messages around what employers need to know and how they can prepare for the changes coming over the next few months.

The Employment Rights Act factsheets contain the most up-to-date information on individual measures within the Employment Rights Act, and the updated implementation timeline can also be found on GOV.UK.
