Defra has published the results of its 2025 survey of workers who were issued Seasonal Worker visas and came to work in the UK during 2025.

The survey provides insight into workers’ experiences of the Seasonal Worker route, helping to identify what went well and where improvements may be needed. It was conducted between 19 December 2025 and 16 February 2026.

A total of 17,796 workers responded, representing a 43.3% response rate, up from 39.4% in 2024. Most respondents were from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, who together accounted for 87.6% of responses. Kyrgyzstan was the most represented individual nationality, accounting for 33.4% of respondents.

As part of Defra’s commitment to continual improvement, the survey questions were updated for 2025. Comparability with previous surveys was maintained wherever possible, while some additional response options and one new question were introduced.

The findings will help improve understanding of workers’ experiences and inform the ongoing development of the Seasonal Worker route.
