Covid Update - Omicron BA.5 variant

The current Omicron variant BA.5 is currently at high levels in the UK and running at about 4% infection rate in the population. This has increased by a third in the last week and levels are projected to peak within the next two weeks. This variant is not as likely to cause significant illness or hospitalisation. Symptoms are generally milder and include headache, sore throat and a cough.

Individuals do not legally have to test or self-isolate but as good practice it is recommended that if working with others it is made known to colleagues and vulnerable people are made aware.
