Consumer Goods Forum Launch SSCI Environmental Benchmark

The Consumer Goods Forum, responsible for GFSI, have launched the Sustainable Supply Chain Initiative environmental benchmark which seeks to standardise the criteria for sustainability schemes and provide a level for schemes to compare themselves again.

By achieving the benchmarked standard, it is then possible for schemes to demonstrate their compliance against agreed criteria.

As part of a wider sustainability group comprising of fresh produce trade associations including the US, Canada and NZ, the FPC provided feedback to the Consumer Goods Forum in relation to the standard and key UK schemes such as Red Tractor and Leaf Marque as part of the consultation process recently.
