This event, sponsored by UK retailers, Scheme Operators, NGO’s, trade associations and growers, will provide valuable insights into ethical recruitment practices, legal requirements, and worker welfare for those on the Seasonal Worker Scheme.

This year will include an interactive session by the International Organization of Migration (IOM) on the culture, religion, social norms and communication styles of seasonal workers from Central Asia. IOM colleagues from the UK and four key Central Asian source countries will join us in person and via Teams to talk about key cultural differences and how cultural awareness can lead to increased productivity.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with industry experts and regulatory bodies, network with fellow growers, meet their Scheme Operators and access practical resources to support fair and compliant employment of workers and protect your business. These events are designed for anyone involved in the fresh produce sector with a responsibility for recruiting, managing, housing or supervising seasonal workers.

Key topics covered will be

  • IOM session on Central Asian culture, religion and social norms
  • SMETA 7.0 and CARs management
  • Employer Pays Principle
  • Accommodation best practice guidance
  • Understanding payslips and minimum wage requirements
  • Legislative requirements and best practice responsibilities of growers and scheme operators during recruitment, assignment and end of season

Delivered jointly by:

  • Shayne Tyler of TylerBladon
  • Claire Donovan of 3iTech Consulting
  • Kelly Shields of the Fresh Produce Consortium
  • Representatives from IOM

Attendees will have the opportunity to raise key concerns and continuous improvement opportunities.

This event is free and open to all.

*Where there is a limit on numbers at venues, we will offer a first come, first served basis and there will be opportunities to attend alternative roadshows.
