Shayne will be giving an insightful introduction to Practical Ethics and ethical trends, with real case studies of exploitation already found this summer both inside and outside of the Seasonal Worker Scheme. How to mitigate the risks and how to manage a situation.

LABOUR AVAILABILITY AND TALENT SHORTAGE
Fiona and Matt from Freeths, alongside Andrew from MorePeople, will be sharing their insights into the current challenges with the availability of labour in the sector, what employers can do differently to attract talented individuals (beyond offering higher pay) and how organisations can support existing employees who might have an increased workload due to the current labour shortages.

Shayne Tyler, Partner / Director TylerBladon Practical Ethics
Shayne Tyler is a highly experienced practitioner in the identification, investigation and resolution of worker welfare issues with experiences that span many hundreds of cases affecting many thousands of victims. A practical and hands on Director with over 30 years of people leadership within the food industry. He relies on over 22 years of experience directly managing variable levels of employee exploitation situations, where he has actively helped shape legislation, guidance, best practice and support mechanisms for the prevention and eradication of worker abuse.
Shayne now partners an organisation with the specific goal to share experiences and help clients understand not just what to do, but more importantly how to do it.
His practical knowledge gives organisations;
Having had extensive ‘first hand’ experience that has identified and tackled numerous examples of worker exploitation for such an extended timeframe, Shayne offers a valuable perspective in the fight to improve worker welfare.

Beverly has been HR Director at G's for over 14 years and is actively involved in talent acquisition and development of current and future leaders. She champions sound ethical working practices and Human Rights throughout the supply chain.
G's is part of The Shropshire Group that grows, packs, distributes and sells salad and vegetables to UK, European and American supermarkets and wholesalers.

Fiona Powell, Director
Fiona is an employment law specialist with 14 years’ experience of providing practical and commercial solutions to HR teams and businesses on all elements of the employment relationship including capability and disciplinary dismissals, grievance investigations, large scale redundancy and restructuring programmes and complex TUPE issues.
Fiona also manages all aspects of Employment Tribunal Litigation (including claims for unfair dismissal, breach of contract, whistleblowing and complex discrimination cases). Fiona conducts all her own advocacy and most recently she successfully defended a 6-day whistleblowing and race discrimination case in the Tribunal.
Fiona regularly provides training sessions to senior management teams on various aspects of employment law to enable businesses to upskill their workforce and manage risk.
FREETHS
Matt Fraser, Managing Associate
Matt qualified as a solicitor in 2013. He has acted for a range of clients in contentious and non-contentious employment matters with particular experience in the Retail, Leisure and Hospitality sectors. Matt provides advice on topics including disciplinary and grievance investigations, long term employee absence, TUPE, redundancy procedures and settlement agreements.
He works with clients to draft effective employment contracts and procedures that are suited to the specific needs of the employer organisation. He also regularly provides bespoke training to managers and HR departments on a wide range of employment related topics.
MOREPEOPLE
Andrew Fitzmaurice, CEO
With a BSc in Chemistry from Newcastle University, Andrew started in recruitment in London in 2004 where he learned his recruitment expertise as well as gaining experience in building and managing high-performing teams for two large recruitment businesses.
Andrew joined MorePeople in 2010 and now, as CEO and a shareholder, has strategic leadership and operational responsibility for driving the growth at MorePeople.
TIAH
Sam Crocker, Operations Manager
Samantha is TIAH’s Operations Manager. Her role involves overseeing all of TIAH’s day-to-day operations, including all compliance requirements.
Sam was born and brought up on a mixed farm in Iowa in the US and has a career background in agriculture. She has joined TIAH from AHDB where she worked to implement the Agri-Skills Strategy which drove the formation of TIAH. Prior to this, Sam was AHDB’s Pork Knowledge Transfer Officer, which involved managing projects geared towards improving knowledge and technical skills for pig producers and their employees.
Sam has international experience of agriculture, having gained a degree in Public Service and Administration in Agriculture at the Iowa State University. During this time, she worked in student administration at the Agriculture and Life Science college, in online-learning communications at the Iowa Pork Industry Centre, and in quality assurance at cooked meat manufacturer.
