Produce Integrity Database and Supply Chain Platform

FPC Produce Integrity Database - the smart way to manage your analysis

The FPC Produce Integrity Database collates anonymised data available from individual members and their suppliers, including analyses results from individual companies’ sampling and monitoring programmes.

Participating companies have access to their own data and analysis in a ‘one stop shop’, enabling them to:

  • interact with and manage suppliers
  • share information within the organisation and externally with suppliers and/or customers
  • benchmark against regulatory and customer standards
  • manage information more efficiently, reduce admin costs and monitor business performance.

FPC and participating companies will also have access to industry anonymised aggregated data, protecting the confidentiality of the importer and producer.

Shared industry data allows FPC to put any potential risk in perspective when it comes to regulatory scrutiny and in cases of investigations into alleged links between fresh produce and foodborne illness.

The database has been developed jointly by FPC and Food Experts, which brings ten years of expertise in this field, having developed sophisticated IT infrastructures to manage pesticide, microbiological and contaminant residue information in fresh produce.

Managing due diligence and compliance across the supply chain

The FPC working group has progressed the development of the module in the Food Experts platform to help members manage due diligence documentation, customer requirements and supplier compliance alongside the growing trend for providing more and more data.

The prototype is being tested by members and the platform will be launched in 2020. A governance board has been established, comprising members of the working group, to oversee further developments, strategy and identify new challenges.

The platform aims to provide a cost-effective tool, ultimately reducing the plethora of systems currently used by FPC members.
