EU / UK Reset Govt Response from Dame Angela Eagle
Following a meeting with Alistair Carmichael MP in March 2026, the FPC contacted Dame Angela Eagle in her capacity as Minister of State (Defra) to raise a number of concerns in relation to the proposed EU / UK SPS Re-set.
FPC Members are able to see both the open letter to and response from Dame Angela which clearly shows acknowledgement that there may be trade offs with Rest of World trade as a result of the negotiations.
The FPC are now seeking to understand potential impacts - both positive and negative - on fresh produce trade in the coming 12 months. We encourage members to get in touch with FPC to discuss how their supply chain management strategies can be addressed going forwards.
