FPC has joined other trade associations in the UK food and drink sector to raise concerns about the limited scope of the proposed development of a trusted trader scheme that will allow the waiving or streamlining of phytosanitary processes processes.
Indications are that the Government scheme will only apply to goods that are moved by Northern Ireland’s largest grocery retailers and will not be available to other businesses involved in the supply chain across the food service and wholesale sectors.
