Consultation on international plant health standards

We have received the following information from Defra Plant Health:

International Standards – 2020 country consultation

The Secretariat of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) has published a series of draft international standards (ISPMs) for country consultation. The draft documents can be downloaded from the ‘Current consultations for draft ISPMs’ section of the IPPC websitE. Further details about the IPPC can be found at www.ippc.int

The drafts are in two batches. The first batch consists of those which are out for the first round of consultation and the second consists of those which are out for the second round of consultation.

1. First Consultation

We are not constrained in the type or number of comments we can make on these drafts. It is also important to identify any potential implementation problems.

Draft annexes to ISPM 28

  1. Irradiation treatment for Tortricidae on fruits (2017-011)
  2. Cold treatment for Thaumatotibia leucotreta on Citrus sinensis (2017-029)
  3. Cold treatment for Bactrocera zonata on Citrus sinensis (2017-013)
  4. Vapour heat - modified atmosphere treatment for Cydia pomonella and Grapholita molesta in fruit of Malus pumila and Prunus persica (2017-037/038)
  5. Irradiation treatment for Sternochetus frigidus (2017-036)
  6. Cold treatment of Ceratitis capitata on Vitis vinifera (2017-023A)
  7. Cold treatment of Bactrocera tryoni on Vitis vinifera (2017-023B)
  8. Cold treatment of Ceratitis capitata on Prunus avium, Prunus domestica and Prunus persica (2017-022A)
  9. Cold treatment of Bactrocera tryoni on Prunus avium, Prunus domestica and Prunus persica (2017-022B)
  10. Irradiation treatment for the genus Anastrepha (2017-031)
  11. Irradiation treatment for Carposina sasakii (2017-026)
  12. Irradiation treatment for Bactrocera dorsalis (2017-015)

2. Second Consultation

These drafts have already been out for consultation, redrafted by the IPPC Standards Committee, and prepared for final consideration. We will seek only to submit crucial comments on these drafts: those that concern issues arising in the drafts which would cause significant misunderstanding or major problems of implementation. Responses to first consultation comments are recorded in the SC report
