It comes with the job - holiday pay

The Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) is currently supporting a government campaign raising awareness around holiday pay.

The ‘it comes with the job’ campaign will help workers to understand their rights and employers to understand their legal obligations.

Around £1.8 billion of holiday pay goes unclaimed every year, affecting around 1.8 million workers.

The workers affected often work in atypical roles and aren’t aware they’re entitled to holiday pay. For example, 35% of workers incorrectly believe only workers in permanent jobs get holiday pay, and 50% of workers incorrectly believe that workers on zero-hours contracts do not qualify for holiday pay.

It’s also hoped it will increase the number of workers having conversations with their employer and receiving the correct holiday pay entitlement.

The campaign launched on Monday 25 February) and will run throughout the UK for a month. It will consist primarily of video on-demand, Spotify advertising, digital website advertising, and adverts in train stations and on the roadside.
