UK monitoring of pesticide residues in food

The Pesticide Residues in Food Expert Committee (PRiF) has published the first quarterly report for 2018, detailing its survey of 573 samples of 21 different foods.

 

A total of 44 samples contained residues above the Maximum Residue Level, including beans with pods, beef, frozen vegetables, grapefruit, frozen melon and okra.

With regard to fresh produce samples:

Beans with pods

There were 8 samples with residues above the MRL: 3 samples from Bangladesh; one sample of organic beans from Egypt; two samples from Kenya, and two samples from Malaysia.

Grapefruit

There was one sample from Israel with residues of imazalil above the MRL.

Okra

There were 8 samples with residues above the MRL: three samples from Honduras; 4 samples from India; and one sample from Vietnam.
