UK imports delayed by French protesters

21 November 2018

We are aware that current action in France by citizens protesting against fuel prices is causing issues for UK importers bringing consignments through France, and is affecting the French-Spanish border.

We have contacted industry colleagues in France and there is no advice regarding how long this action may continue.  The situation is compounded by the fact that the protests are not from one organisation, but are part of the ‘gilet jaune’ public action, targeting roads and fuel stations.

There is some information on routes affected being put together by the French regional and national authorities, which is being coordinated by the French Ministry of Transport. You can find today’s report here.

UPDATE: We understand that the flow of traffic is back to normal on the Spanish-French border as of today. However, there are disruptions further north and more action anticipated.
