No fresh produce listed by Commission on suspension of trade concessions on US exports

1 June 2018

Fresh produce is not included in the Commission’s proposed suspension of trade concessions on US exports.

The European Commission had already published its proposed lists of products on which it may impose duty on US exports.  With the US application of duties to the imports of steel and aluminium products the Commission will be looking to implement its first stage – products listed in Annex I of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/724.

There have been some media references to cranberries, but the Commission refers only to cranberry juice and cranberries in alcohol, and not to fresh cranberries. Frozen and preserved sweetcorn is included in the Annex I list, as is orange juice (not frozen).
