Consultation on shellac wax (C904)

The European Food Safety Authority is calling for data on the use of shellac wax, its usage level and/or concentration data in foods.

Regulation (EC) No 1331/20081 establishes a common procedure for the assessment and authorisation of food additives, which are subject to a safety evaluation by EFSA before they are permitted for use in the European Union. In addition, food additives are kept under continuous observation and must be re-evaluated by EFSA.
