Pesticide residues in food

The UK’s Pesticide Residues in Food Expert Committee has published its rolling reports for samples of beans with pods, grapes, okra potatoes and prepared fresh fruit collected in March 2017:

 

 

Beans with Pods

  • 1 sample from Bangladesh contained residues of dimethoate (sum) 0.2 (MRL=0.02*) and emamectin 0.05 (MRL=0.01*). The risk assessment screen identified that none of the residues detected by the laboratory would be expected to have an effect on health.
  • 1 sample from Malaysia contained residues of chlorfenapyr 0.1 (MRL=0.01*) and dimethoate (sum) 0.3 (MRL=0.02*). The risk assessment screen identified that none of the residues detected by the laboratory would be expected to have an effect on health.
  • 2 samples from UK contained residues of boscalid which is not approved for use on beans with pods in the UK. Details of the samples have been passed to HSE to investigate, brand name details will not be published until the investigation is complete.

Grapes

None of the residues detected by the laboratory would be expected to have an effect on health. 

Okra

1 sample from Honduras contained a residue of tebuconazole 0.03 (MRL = 0.02*). The risk assessment screen identified that none of the residues detected by the laboratory would be expected to have an effect on health. 

Potatoes

None of the residues detected by the laboratory would be expected to have an effect on health.

Prepared Fresh Fruit

3 samples from the UK contained residues of chlorate 0.02 (MRL = 0.01*). The risk assessment screen identified that none of the residues detected by the laboratory would be expected to have an effect on health.
