Greens of Highgate – 2017 Fresh Awards Independent Retailer of the Year

13 June 2017

Greens of Highgate is winner of the FreshAwards Independent Retailer of the Year 2017.

This trendy young Highgate Village greengrocer has gone from strength to strength in a very short time to gain a reputation for offering a wide range of great quality products. The North London based independent grocer stands out for bespoke customer service, offering free deliveries and special orders, as well as taking time to give back to its close-knit community by supporting local charitable causes.

Word of mouth endorsement and adept use of social media helped Greens of Highgate secure prominent high-level recognition in just six months, including support from BBC celebrity chef, Diana Henry; a Time Out award and feature in the New York Times.

“We are thrilled and honoured to have won the award for best independent retailer! It’s fantastic to receive such great recognition and know that our hard work is paying off,” said Ricky Green of Greens of Highgate.

The 2017 FreshAwards Independent Retailer of the Year is sponsored by CHEP and is awarded to the best independent fruit and vegetable retailer in the UK.

“A winning combination of hard graft and sound business strategy impressed the FreshAwards judges.  Congratulations to Greens of Highgate for its outstanding entrepreneurial spirit and significant personal investment,” commented Nigel Jenney, Chief Executive of the Fresh Produce Consortium.

The Fresh Award for the Independent Retailer of the Year was presented by Steven McGhee of CHEP in front of an audience of over 500 people at the gala evening, hosted by British comedian, actor and broadcaster Hugh Dennis at the Intercontinental Park Lane on Thursday 8 June 2017.
