GLAA National Conference – 11 October 2017

29 June 2017

With just over three months to go before the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority’s national conference, the venue is filling up very fast. Bookings have been unprecedented and less than 100 spaces remain, so make sure you book now to secure your place for just £125 a head, including lunch and refreshments.

Delegates will hear how the GLAA has evolved from the Gangmasters Licensing Authority and how, with an extended remit and additional powers, the GLAA is changing the way labour abuse and exploitation is tackled in the UK.

There will be plenty of opportunity for you to have your say in interactive workshops and web-based surveys being run throughout the day – so be sure to bring your smart phone, laptop or tablet to ensure your views are heard.

The impressive line-up includes keynote addresses from the recently-appointed Director of Labour Market Enforcement – ProfessorSir David Metcalf, the UK’s first Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner Kevin Hyland and the National Crime Agency’s Director of Vulnerability, Will Kerr.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to hear from and question the Head of the Home Office Modern Slavery Unit, Offer Stern-Weiner, as well as the national police lead for modern slavery - Devon and Cornwall’s Chief Constable,Shaun Sawyer. Mark Burns-Williamson, the West Yorkshire Police & Crime Commissioner and Caroline Haughey, a renowned trafficking barrister who also sits on the Prime Minister’s Modern Slavery Task Force will also give a fascinating insight into the current thinking of tackling labour exploitation and modern slavery.  Add the GLAA Chair and Chief Executive to that mix and you have a collection of specialist knowledge that will provide an unrivalled insight into the issues facing the UK labour market.
