PML opens South African operation

18 November 2016

Perishable Movements Ltd UK  (PML) has opened a South African operation, Perishable Movements Logistics South Africa (Pty) Ltd with Jan Crafford appointed as Managing Director.

The PML Cape Town team members were hand selected to manage all ocean freight operations from the Stellenbosch office and Air freight operations from Airport Industria CPT office. The company was set up to be fully operational from 1 November 2016 in time for the start of 2016/17 grape/stone fruit season.

PML SA will also be opening Johannesburg/Durban and Port Elizabeth operations early in 2017.  The business specialises in delivering cost effective, high quality supply chain management solutions extending across all international borders and prides itself on getting the basics right and on time, focussed on customer service.

PML UK is based at a prime Heathrow location and is the brainchild of Group Managing Director Mike Parr (also non-exec director of FPC), with more than thirty years experience dedicated to managing the supply chain of temperature sensitive goods.  It operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week year round from a 36,000 sq ft temperature controlled facility which is HMRC approved as a Bonded Warehouse and accredited by the British Retail Consortium.

A visiting Jamaican technical delegation recently toured the facility with Nick Finbow and his team and observed onsite inspections with Animal & Plant Health Agency (APHA) inspector Rachel Waghorn.

PML is a great supporter of FPC Freshawards and sponsors the Supermarket Supplier award.
