New trigger levels for additional import duties

3 May 2016

The European Commission has amended Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 543/2011 with regard to the trigger levels for additional duties on certain fruit and vegetables.

This is in line with Article 5(4) of the Agreement on Agriculture concluded during the Uruguay round, based on the data available from previous years: 2013, 2014, and 2015.

The Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 2016/674 comes into force with immediate effect and concerns commodities such as tomatoes, cucumbers, various citrus varieties, apple, pears and others. With the exceedance of the newly set trigger levels, additional duties will be charged for imports from third countries.
